Adil Rasheed

Professor & Senior Scientist
Department of Engineering Cybernetics
NTNU / SINTEF Digital

Adil Rasheed is Professor of Big Data Cybernetics in the Department of Engineering Cybernetics at NTNU, where he coordinates the digital twin activity, and Senior Scientist at SINTEF Digital. He originated Hybrid Analysis and Modelling (HAM), a framework for combining physics-based models with machine learning in settings where data is sparse, expensive or unrepresentative, and physical understanding is incomplete. HAM underpins his work on digital twins across wind energy, maritime autonomy, drilling and subsurface, process industry and the built environment. He has published over two hundred peer-reviewed papers, all open access.

More recently his focus has turned to what it takes for such systems to be deployable under European regulation. He is developing Kybernora (www.kybernora.com), a platform combining an agentic analysis engine spanning interpretable multivariate methods, HAM models and deep and generative architectures, with a compliance layer that produces regulatory evidence as the analysis runs. He is also the developer of Edaptic (www.edaptic.no), an adaptive-learning system classified as high-risk under Annex III of the EU AI Act, and authored the published technical file documenting it against the full obligation set in its current form.
